I like the grip just a little bit better, and magazines and parts are easier to find.
I want a full sized 1911, tactical, with a traditional single stack. I will eventually buy another 1911, in addition to my P13, not as a replacement. Now that I have solved the magazine issue, it's about as good a gun as I could ask for. Still, it's not enough to make me abandon my P13. This has raised the price of P13 mags from $18 to $20 a piece (not counting shipping), to $30 to $35 a piece. I was able to solve the problem by ordering longer and stronger springs from Brownells, but I have had to do this with every single magazine. The springs are sort, weak, and cause feed problems. Mags can be found through web sites such as CDNN and Brownells that are supposedly factory magazines and that bear the Para logo. The magazines are unique, and are even harder to find now that Para USA's new line no longer features a model with a 13 round magazine. The only other modification I might add is night sights. The trigger pull is just about perfect (I haven't measured it), and recently I added a slightly beefier recoil spring, which has helped manage recoil. Here's the problem: the P13 does everything pretty damn well. Recently I've been shopping around, looking at other 1911's, and people have been trying to sell me Kimbers, STI's, and other high end weapons. It's a basic 1911, no frills, just as it came from the factory. 45 that I bought used nine years ago, although I didn't really begin getting use out of it until about six months ago since then, I've put about 1,000 rounds through the weapon.
